The first thing every ASTM F2413 boot must have is impact and compression protection. On the label these show up as I (impact) and C (compression). Impact resistance means the toe cap can take a falling object without crushing. Compression resistance means it can handle a heavy rolling or standing load, think of a loaded pallet jack or a vehicle wheel. These two are the baseline. Every genuine ASTM F2413 boot has them.
After that come the hazard-specific codes, which a boot earns only if it passes those extra tests:
- EH means electrical hazard resistance. The sole is built to reduce the risk of shock if you make contact with a live electrical circuit in a dry environment.
